Hi,its been after a long days i have started sharing a Windows Trick ,i want to cover all possible Pc or Laptop tricks and tips that may atleast help a newbie .
Let me begin with this simple trick,Since many of us knows that
all recent viruses are in some .exe
or .bat file extension hidden and spread
rapidly through pendrives
or removable media like Dvd/HDD.It is important to block this files from being sitting on your pc,either by using best antivirus software or manual prevention method.
Usually some AV's(Antivirus softwares) do'nt track autorun.inf file hidden on
pendrive.
Windows XP explorer
goto Tools->Folder Options->File Types->
Select .INF from Extensions list(to block)
and click Advanced Button.
Now Remove Install, Open
Actions from Actions List (so that the actions will not occur ). and Click OK.
Thats it, just Restart the PC now you'r machine is securely
protected from unwanted
autorun.inf file attacks from
any removable media.
The above step will protect you but the auto play or auto run of media /cd/dvd will n't work but don't worry you can always
manually open a valid media (driver cd, game setup cd etc.)
by browsing to setup file. Warning: This trick will not remove
from PC which is
already infected by some
virus but it will only
prevent the autorun.inf
(or any .inf) file to run that may have executable
virus file path.
Create a .txt file with the name
autorun.inf and make it Read
Only and Hidden(from properties),so that the
new autorun.inf or virus file cant overwrite it.It may really helps you,think so,
